Newcomers Guide

Troy is a wonderful location for prospective homeowners. Our centralized location in the Piedmont offers residents the advantages of a small town atmosphere and friendly neighborhoods with the convenience of having larger cities a short distance away. A day trip to the beach or mountains is not out of the question since both are only a three-hour drive. If staying closer to home is more appealing, there is a lot to do in the community. Whether your interests are a quiet day of shopping or an action packed day on the lake, we have something for everyone.

Our area is privileged to have the Uwharrie National Forest, with its extensive hiking and biking trails and camping facilities, literally surrounding Troy. The Densons Creek Golf Course, located in Troy, is open to the public. Uwharrie Point and the Pinehurst area courses offer some of the best golfing in the state, all within 30 minutes of Troy. Lake Tillery and Badin Lake in the western part of Montgomery County are hot spots for fishing and water sports enthusiasts. For the shopper, Troy has specialty shops and outlets to explore. The Seagrove community, just east of Troy, is a well-known pottery center in North Carolina. This region is home to dozens of potters, each with their own rich heritage and distinctive style. A visit to the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro is also only a 30-minute drive.
